The reason behind this custom build was to make a CAR 16" Rifle with the look of a 20". Instead of having the long barrel ahead of the gas block, like on most 16" rifles, we wanted approximately 5" of barrel ahead of the gas block like the 20".  Our upper receiver is an octagon shape, so we built the gun on an 8 theme.  8 sided upper, 8 sided handguard, 8 flutes, 8 sided gas block, 8 rows of gas ports in the muzzle brake. The handguard has 8 Slots & Flutes (4 Slots & 4 Flutes). The Muzzle Brake has 8 rows of holes (with 4 holes per row-1/2 of 8).  It looks cool and was fun to design and build.
